In a rousing lawyer-versus-lawyer battle for the Georgia House of Representatives’ District 117, a solo family law practitioner narrowly beat out the incumbent in Tuesday’s Republican primary.

Regina Quick garnered fewer than 100 votes more than Doug McKillip, also a solo practitioner in Athens, who made headlines this spring for shepherding a bill through the Legislature that banned most abortions after 20 weeks from fertilization.
