On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to congratulate Georgia Court of Appeals Presiding Judge Charles B. Mikell of Savannah on his upcoming retirement on Aug. 31 and thank him for his more than 35 years of service to the legal profession and the justice system.

Having demonstrated his commitment to public service for 12 years on the Court of Appeals, including service as chief judge, and 15 years as a judge in the State Court and Superior Court of Chatham County, Judge Mikell also spent nine years in law practice at the outset of his career. In addition, he served the country as a decorated Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
