A state senator beating the drum for ethics reform has asked state Attorney General Sam Olens to investigate criminal allegations against the chairman of the Senate Rules Committee.

Olens’ office would only acknowledge receiving the request from Senator Joshua McKoon, a Republican lawyer from Columbus. The Law Department has jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute public officials accused of crimes involving the state, but those cases are rare.
