A torn and tearful DeKalb County jury decided against the widow of a bicyclist killed in a car crash who sought nearly $1.4 million.

The Oct. 24 verdict was a victory for the widow’s insurer, State Farm Insurance, which represented the defendant to avoid paying $150,000 in underinsured motorist coverage plus additional damages from a potential bad faith claim. The defendant’s insurer, Geico, previously paid its $50,000 policy limit to the plaintiff.
