On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to congratulate Fayette County State Court Judge Carla Wong McMillian on her appointment by Gov. Nathan Deal to the Court of Appeals of Georgia.

The entire state will benefit from Gov. Deal’s historic appointment of Judge McMillian, who is the first Asian-American woman to be elected as a judge in Georgia and is now the first Georgia appellate judge of Asian heritage. In 2010, she was recognized as the Most Powerful and Influential Woman of Georgia by the National Diversity Council and, last year, as one of the Best Lawyers Under 40 by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.
