Three recent decisions favoring insurance companies in disputes over accident settlements show an important shift in the Georgia Court of Appeals, lawyers on both sides of the debate said.

Impassioned dissents from a 4-3 vote in the latest case illustrate that the court is still wrestling with the issues, but "The tide is definitely turning," said Michael Werner of Werner & Associates, a plaintiffs lawyer who came out on the losing end of one of the cases.
