Litigation from the death of Kathryn Johnston, the 92-year-old woman fatally shot by rogue Atlanta police officers during a botched drug raid in 2006, has led to a confidential settlement—and more litigation.

According to a statement released Thursday by the Rev. Markel Hutchins, he has reached a deal with family members of Sarah Dozier, Johnston’s late niece who served as Johnston’s estate administrator. Hutchins served as spokesman and family adviser for Johnston’s family in the aftermath of the shooting, but he later sued the estate, Dozier and her attorneys from Cochran, Cherry, Givens, Sistrunk & Smith for $490,000. That sum was what he claimed was his promised 10 percent share of a $4.9 million wrongful death settlement paid by the city in 2010.
