As past Presidents of the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers (GAWL), we read with great concern the article regarding the board’s decision not to sign on to an amicus brief supporting same-sex marriage which is pending before the U.S. Supreme Court ["GAWL inaction sparks backlash," April 25].
Despite the current controversy, it is important to remember that over the last 80-plus years, GAWL has enhanced the lives of women lawyers by giving them a voice and providing them with a network from which to seek career and family advice, to obtain business referrals, to engage in community service, to be mentored by successful women leaders, and to garner the confidence needed to succeed.
