He grabbed another file from a large stack of papers including old magazines, financial statements, unopened bills, photographs and so on. Looking at what may be a divorce matter—or perhaps domestic violence—Jim couldn't tell which among the various documents had been filed in court, let alone what deadlines might be fast approaching.
