A failed College Park mayoral candidate with a history of suing the city and its officials has been ordered to pay more than $60,000 in attorney fees for his latest courtroom challenge, which attempted to overturn the results of the 2011 election that saw incumbent Mayor Jack Longino returned to office with 71 percent of the vote.
The May 31 order signed by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Gail Tusan cited three earlier suits Roderick Gay had filed against the city over the last 10 years, and characterized as baseless the pro se litigant's accusations of fraud and vote-tampering. Gay filed similar actions in 2003 and 2007 after losing bids to unseat Longino; they were dismissed by the court.
