A dispute between the now-suspended clerks for the Roswell Municipal Court and the city over its plans to privatize the court system blew up in testy exchanges between lawyers and witnesses in Fulton County Superior Court on Thursday.

A lawyer for the city defended its decision to delay an election to replace a departed chief judge, arguing that Roswell has acted entirely within the law. The lawyer, Roswell assistant city attorney Robert Hulsey, also forcefully denied allegations that the city solicitor, Krista Young, has been voiding arrest warrants and signing court orders as if she were a judge.
