Atlanta will gain a new Am Law 100 firm, BakerHostetler, if a planned merger goes through with Philadelphia-based intellectual property boutique Woodcock Washburn, which has an Atlanta office.

BakerHostetler and Woodcock Washburn announced Friday that they have signed a letter of intent to combine, contingent on the vote of both firms’ partnerships, which is set for early December. If the partners approve it, the combination would take effect Jan. 1.
