A hearing today in DeKalb County Superior Court has the potential to shed more light on an intriguing twist in the criminal prosecution of suspended County CEO Burrell Ellis.
In a 22-page motion filed earlier this month, Ellis’ defense team is asking Judge Courtney Johnson to disqualify District Attorney Robert James and his office and to dismiss the case against Ellis. He has been accused of using his position of authority to shake down county vendors for campaign donations, charges he has denied.
