A Gwinnett County State Court jury took just 45 minutes to reach a verdict in favor of the defendant doctor following a six-day medical malpractice trial over a brain-damaged baby whose mother died just hours after giving birth.

The mother’s death was not at issue in the trial. The plaintiff’s side asked the jury for $13 million in damages to cover the now 4-year-old child’s life care plan plus pain and suffering, according to defense attorney Paul Weathington of Weathington Smith.
