Bill Needle heads to Tennessee every year for the Memphis in May Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, an event that attracts contestants from all 50 states and several countries around the meat-eating globe.

It is a big deal in the barbecue world and Needle, a partner at Ballard Spahr, plays an important role in the festivities. He’s a certified Memphis in May barbecue judge. He helps decide who takes home the coveted title.
