A Cobb County Superior Court jury returned a verdict of guilty but mentally ill after a four-day trial for the man accused of writing a letter threatening to “kill and eat” a judge’s wife and children.

A sentencing date has not been set for James Satterfield, 59, of Marietta, but he faces up to 35 years in prison for the five terroristic threats counts on which he was convicted, according to an announcement from Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds. Satterfield has been in custody since his arrest in December 2012 for terroristic threats against the family of Cobb county Superior Court Judge Reuben Green.
