On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I wish to express condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of Ed Menifee, executive director of the State Bar’s Bar Association Support to Improve Correctional Services (BASICS) offender rehabilitation program on his recent and very untimely passing.
During his more than 35 years as executive director, Mr. Menifee touched the lives of approximately 10,000 men and women who were assisted by their involvement in the BASICS World of Work program. BASICS is aimed at helping former offenders stay out of jail once they are released, by providing effective instruction, guidance and employability counseling.
