As Georgia lawmakers this session consider reforms aimed at helping ex-convicts re-enter society, a recent hypothetical situation gave lawyers an opportunity to debate the competing policy concerns at issue.
At Saturday’s Georgia Bar, Media & Judiciary Conference in Atlanta, the role-playing by a panel of experts pitted the public’s right to know of potential public safety threats against an individual’s right to shed a checkered past. The annual conference is sponsored by the Georgia First Amendment Foundation and hosted at the State Bar of Georgia.
