The Griffin Circuit district attorney is asking a new judge to reinstate a guilty verdict in a rape case that sparked controversy after it was overturned by the appellate judge who presided over the 2012 trial.
That new judge has not been determined. Georgia Court of Appeals Judge Christopher McFadden last week resigned his temporary appointment as the trial judge in the case. The circuit’s chief Superior Court judge, who advised McFadden on trial procedure during the rape case, has recused from the case.
