An “Oprah” show on child molestation led to a conviction in Cobb County Superior Court Thursday.

The victim, now 24, told the jury that a man who was living in her home with her family sexually abused her for four years, starting when she was 8, according to an announcement from Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds. The victim did not disclose the abuse until she was 15 and watched an episode of Oprah Winfrey’s television talk show, during which the host and other guests spoke emotionally about their experiences as survivors of child sexual assault.
