Gov. Nathan Deal has appointed a city judge and an assistant federal prosecutor to the trial bench.

Deal announced today that he named Calhoun Municipal Court Judge Suzanne Smith to replace retired Cherokee Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Shepherd Howell. He also named Verda Colvin, assistant U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, to replace retired Macon Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge S. Phillip Brown.
