A panel of the Georgia Court of Appeals has derailed a class action over an Augusta hospital’s collection practices.
The March 20 decision reversed class certification in the case against MCG Health Inc., which runs the Georgia Regents Medical Center. At issue is MCG’s practice of filing liens upon hospital patients’ suits against parties who allegedly caused their injuries, even when the patients’ health insurers have paid their bills.
