A judge from Blue Ridge was killed and his wife seriously injured over the weekend when their motorcycle was hit by a car that crossed the center line of Highway 60 in the North Georgia mountain town of Mineral Bluff near the Tennessee line, Chattanoogan.com reports.

Ronald Newton, chief magistrate of Fannin County, was killed about 12:30 p.m. Sunday. His wife, Rita Newton, was air lifted to Erlanger Hospital, where she is in critical condition, Access North Georgia reports.
