A Norcross lawyer honored by the White House for her work in immigration reform, then indicted for alleged immigration fraud, has broken her silence, saying she is concerned her situation is being exploited for political purposes by opponents.
“I deplore the fact that political detractors are using my situation to attack the current administration and proponents of reform,” Bonnie Youn said in an emailed statement Wednesday. “It distracts us from the truth that the backbreaking labor of immigrants has built our nation, and that they deserve a future to become Americans.”
