Veteran Cobb County Solicitor General Barry Morgan is fighting to keep his job against a challenge from criminal defense lawyer Cindi Yeager, who says Morgan isn’t aggressive enough in prosecuting driving under the influence and vehicular homicide cases.

Yeager, who is a frequent speaker on the continuing legal education circuit and has authored a book about DUI prosecution and defense, contends that Morgan doesn’t take enough cases to court. She says she has examined Morgan’s record and determined 40 percent of DUI cases in Cobb are reduced to lesser charges in plea negotiations or dismissed. She sounded her campaign theme at the Cobb County Republican Women’s Club candidates forum Thursday evening.
