Fulton County Superior Court Judge Thomas Campbell Jr. said he was surprised when he drew opposition for this year’s election.
“There was a rumor that a challenger was considering running, but it wasn’t clear which sitting judge he would challenge,” said Campbell. Word floating around the courthouse indicated that Judge Craig Schwall might be targeted, he said. (Schwall confirmed that he had heard the same thing, and in response he set up a website and put banners “all over town” to fend off the potential threat. “Our fundraising took off tremendously,” Schwall said.)
