After a four-month delay, Georgia’s two Republican U.S. senators have formally given their seal of approval to nominations the White House made for the federal bench in Georgia.
U.S. Sens. Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss returned blue slips on Tuesday to the Senate Judiciary Committee for seven candidates, a committee spokeswoman said. The blue-slip process, a senatorial courtesy, requires senators to signal their approval of judicial nominees from their home states before the Judiciary Committee will convene a confirmation hearing.
