Years ago, attorneys worked until the day they died. Only then did partners and law practices actually focus on the realities of transitioning an active law practice from one partner (now deceased) to another.

In today’s world, few attorneys work to the end (although it does still happen). Instead, both attorneys and law practices are starting to plan for the transition from the active practice of law to part-time (or semi-retired) to retirement.
