Gwinnett College in Sandy Springs has settled a federal investigation into allegations that it violated the civil rights of an individual who is HIV-positive, the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia announced on Tuesday.
The settlement stemmed from allegations that the college refused to let an HIV-positive student take part in its medical assistant program, said U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates in a written statement. The student subsequently left the school.
