A federal judge has sentenced an Atlanta man and a Dunwoody woman to prison after they pleaded guilty to stealing identities of law and medical students at Emory University and the University of Georgia in order to apply for student loans, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia announced Friday.
U.S. District Judge Thomas Thrash Jr. sentenced Maario Coleman, 28, to serve four years, nine months in prison. He pleaded guilty in May to computer fraud and aggravated identity theft. Thrash also ordered Coleman to pay $52,000 in restitution.
