A Fulton County judge’s order calling for $10,000 in sanctions against the state Law Department for failing to turn over discovery in a whistleblower lawsuit against the state ethics commission should prompt an investigation by the State Bar of Georgia, a local legal ethics professor said.
Clark Cunningham of Georgia State University said there is a possibility that lawyers in the attorney general’s office, perhaps even Olens himself, could be investigated by the State Bar of Georgia for violating rules of professional conduct. Cunningham has been critical of Olens’ actions in the ethics commission case.
