Alabama’s congresswomen have spoken out on disciplinary proceedings against U.S. District Judge Mark Fuller, with one calling for his resignation and the other saying “domestic abuse cannot be tolerated.”

Fuller, who maintains his chambers in Montgomery, was arrested Aug. 10 on allegations that he assaulted his wife at the Ritz-Carlton in downtown Atlanta. Under terms agreed to earlier this month, the judge will enter a pre-trial diversion program to resolve a misdemeanor battery case against him, meaning the case could be dismissed and his arrest record expunged.
