The U.S. Senate has decided to move ahead on consideration of one of five federal judicial nominees from Georgia—but not until after the November election.

On Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid filed to close debate on the nomination of Atlanta attorney Leigh Martin May for one of four vacant seats on the Northern District of Georgia bench. The Senate has scheduled a cloture vote on May’s nomination for 5:30 p.m. Nov. 12. Approval of the measure by a simple majority of the Senate would pave the way for a confirmation vote, which is scheduled for Nov. 13 at 2:30 p.m.
