Five years after big firms slashed associate pay in response to the recession, the market rate for their first-year associates in Atlanta is still $135,000.

That is the median entry-level salary for big firms locally, according to figures reported to the National Association of Law Placement (NALP) this year. Ten of the 26 large firms supplying Atlanta salary figures for the NALP survey are paying that amount, including all six of the Am Law 100 firms headquartered in the city: King & Spalding, Alston & Bird, Troutman Sanders, Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, McKenna Long & Aldridge and Sutherland Asbill & Brennan.
