The U.S. Supreme Court looked north in figuring out how much water should flow south from Georgia to Florida, tapping a lawyer from Maine to act as a special master in the so-called Water Wars.

The justices on Nov. 19 appointed Ralph Lancaster Jr. of Pierce Atwood in Portland, Maine, to manage the litigation brought by Florida against Georgia last year. According to a brief post about the appointment on his firm’s website, Lancaster is the first person to be appointed special master by the court on four occasions.
