Two state lawmakers, the grandson of the country’s top prosecutor and several former and current prosecutors and indigent defenders are among the 71 nominees the governor’s Judicial Nominating Commission will consider for two vacancies on the DeKalb County bench.
The JNC will supply Gov. Nathan Deal with a short list of names to replace DeKalb State Court Judge Eleanor Ross, who recently was sworn in as a federal district court judge, and DeKalb Superior Court Judge Cynthia Becker, who has announced plans to retire March 1.
