When I joined Facebook on May 21, 2004—it was called thefacebook.com at the time—it was little more than a useful way to find out if the girl sitting two rows in front of me in Torts class had a boyfriend. Each account was allowed one picture at a time—a profile picture.
Over the past decade, however, Facebook has redefined the words “friends,” “share,” “like” and “poke.” And today, Facebook is a publicly traded company with a market cap exceeding $210 billion.
