The pipeline to partnership has been clogged by residue from the recession, lateral partner movement and lifestyle issues, but observers have noticed a renewed interest by firms in developing top-tier attorneys so they have more of an unobstructed path.

“I think it’s starting to be a trend,” says Peter Zeughauser, chairman and legal strategist for The Zeughauser Group, a law firm consulting firm. “One important reason is that the work is coming back and there is real growth in the economy now. The biggest change is that more people are being admitted to equity partnership than before.”
