The chairman of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee has introduced legislation that would allow cameras and audio coverage in federal courtrooms.
Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, said the Sunshine in the Courtroom Act would allow the media to film, photograph or record in the federal courts but would also include safeguards to protect the privacy of witnesses and jurors. It would give nonparty witnesses in federal cases the right to have their faces or voices obscured and bars outright televising jurors.
