When Judge Mark Cohen was a boy, his father would sometimes take him out of school for a trip to Florida’s Dade County Courthouse.
A clothing manufacturer, Cohen’s father knew a lot of lawyers through his business, “and he always enjoyed watching them in action,” Cohen recalled at his formal investiture to the U.S. District Court in January. “And I think if the situation were different when he was growing up, he would have loved to have gone to law school. And I think by taking me to court, he was not so subtly pushing me to a career in the law.”
