The nation’s largest kidney dialysis company has set aside $495 million, including $45 million for legal fees and costs, to settle an Atlanta whistleblower case, according to a report the company made Monday to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. announced in the SEC filing that while the specific terms of the settlement are still being finalized, the company has accrued “an estimated loss contingency” of $495 million. DaVita’s intention to settle the eight-year-old litigation became public last month.
