When 14 attorneys left the law firm of Nelson Levine de Luca & Hamilton to join Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, they took their firm-issued laptops with them. Needless to say, the Nelson Levine firm was none too thrilled.

It was not the actual laptops that caused the ruckus. Instead, at the center of the dispute was the information on the laptops, including client files, research and contact information.
