The attorney who next month will be sworn in as the newest federal magistrate judge in Atlanta says she first thought about the possibility of holding the post when she clerked for U.S. District Senior Judge Willis Hunt Jr. 13 years ago.

“It’s my dream job,” Catherine M. Salinas, a partner at the Atlanta offices of Carlton Fields Jorden Burt, said of her pending appointment to the post. The Northern District bench announced Tuesday that Salinas has been selected to replace U.S. Magistrate Judge E. Clayton Scofield III, who retires June 30.
