Former state Rep. Mike Jacobs officially became the newest state court judge in DeKalb County on Thursday.
Gov. Nathan Deal administered the oath of office to Jacobs during a ceremony in the House chambers of the Capitol. Deal selected Jacobs, a Republican who has served six terms in the Legislature, from a short list of eight candidates in May. Jacobs replaces Judge Eleanor Ross, whose nomination to the federal bench was confirmed by the Senate earlier this year.
