When new State Bar of Georgia President Bob Kauffman presided over his first governing board meeting on Saturday, the first part of the session was tranquil. But the good spirits wore off quickly.

There was the expected warm reception by the board of governors to Kauffman’s address, in which he outlined his goals for the term and the usual recognition of judges, officers and dignitaries. But once governors were asked to vote on new proposals, the Stone Mountain resort conference room filled with grumbles.
