A federal jury in Atlanta has convicted an Alpharetta man of defrauding the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the National Science Foundation of nearly $800,000, the acting U.S. attorney in Atlanta announced Tuesday.

John Horn, acting U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, said that for years Alpharetta resident Craig Near “supported himself and his family in a suburban lifestyle, with practically his only earnings being the fruits of his scheme defrauding the government.”
