After 34 years at the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit, Ocmulgee District Attorney Fred Bright has announced his retirement because of health issues. His last day will be Aug. 31.

In his July 1 retirement letter to Gov. Nathan Deal, which Bright said was “probably the hardest letter I have ever had to write,” he opened up about his battle with cancer, diagnosed three years ago.
