In a one-two punch challenging the authority of the state judicial discipline agency, the Council of State Court Judges has asked the Supreme Court of Georgia to override two opinions issued by the Judicial Qualifications Commission—one barring judges from weighing in on appellate cases as a friend of the court and one asserting that, except in rare circumstances, Georgia’s courtrooms should remain open.
