A federal judge in Atlanta has sentenced a former Emory University employee to serve 18 months in prison for embezzling more than $300,000 in student tuition payments, the acting U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia announced Thursday.
Brenda Michael, 53, of Atlanta, was sentenced by U.S. District Senior Judge Willis Hunt Jr. after pleading guilty in April to wire fraud, according to federal prosecutors and court records. The judge also ordered her to pay $317,923 in restitution to Emory.
