A national tort reform group that ranks state tort systems in terms of fairness for the business community dropped Georgia to 31st place, down 7 spots from its 24th place ranking in 2012.

The drop in stature by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) is surprising, given that Republican leadership in both the governor’s office and the state Legislature typically promote legislation amenable to the state’s business sector.
